File a report first.There is always the off chance that they catch the culprit and you get to off his dick XD.But other than that, I think a pepper spray is best.It gives you a fighting chance to subdue him or run away, but its not deadly enough for the criminal to feel threatened and try to kill you in the process.And take those classes if you feel like it!The more, the merrier.
The bedt thing you could do right now is try to relax.There is nothing you could do to remedy the situation, and being stressed about it will only harm your own health.
