In order to give us another reason to buy again. 4K is just another way. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. But, there are times where good is good enough. What are these companies gonna do. When they hit a wall. Where pixels won't matter to people, anymore. You can't hid your shit game, behind 20K resolution. At some point. Just like how moveis can't throw CGI at it. And get free ticket sales anymore.
This is going to fail. Sooner or later. There will be a point. And now, with intcreimental console upgrades. A chunk of people will go. "My PS6.5 doesn't look any different than that PS7. I don't need it. Same goes for phone and TV companies. You can add only so much. Till there's nothing left. |
Absolutely. Graphics is a bell curve. The PS3/Xbox360 generation already hit the top of the bell curve. To get just a little bit more graphics, the PS4 had to be 10 times more powerful than the PS3. For just a small increase in graphics 10 times more power was needed. We are already at a point where we are seeing diminishing returns in graphics with exponential increases in power.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!
