Dude, seriously...have you read the article beyond the clickbait title? The guy says that there are 4 times less AAA games in development because the team's size increased 4 times. Not because there have been 100 studios closed.

 

Of course I did. Devs who used to work for the now defunct 100 studios dont just magically vaporize when they lose their jobs. (POOF) They get new jobs at another studio. But there are way less studios now working on AAA games. That is what the article says. That 80% of the studios working on AAA games are gone. And all the devs that worked for thoses studios now work at a smaller number of bigger AAA development studios. Meaning we have lost a lot of AAA studios, but not the devs that worked at those studios. Soon there will be one AAA studio to rule them all and it will be called EA.
