If 2016 was "meh", then 2014 and 2015 were a nightmare.

For 2015 would be Fallout 4 for most incomplete game of the year and witcher 3 for game of the year for myself, but ya the last three years haven't been the most for something I feel deserves game of the year. 2014 was pretty meh for me as well. 

Last time I thought of game really deserving that award was Last of Us (hell second place for me grand theft auto 5 also deserves it) and that was 2013 correct?

2013 was pretty stacked. For GOTY you had The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, GTA5, Zelda Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D World. 

Then you still had good games in general with BF4, Tomb Raider, Rayman Legends, Pokemon X/Y,  Tearaway, Dragons Crown and more.
