I think a lot of people were turned off by the name "Vita"
It is too weird sounding a name for a gaming system in most languages.

It could have been called Dick Grabber and with Nintendo as a backer it would have sold.  What is in a name?  It was Nintendo's resources, Nintendo's games, Nintendo's history, Nintendo's overall ability to push mobile game that got the GB, GBA, DS, 3DS into millions upon millions of hands.  Handheld Nintendo consoles sold because Nintendo.  Just like how PS home consoles sell because it's PS with a Number attached to it.  Vita was a market that wasn't a Handheld market.  The demographics for a sony handheld couldn't give a darn about underpowered console games on the go.  It wasn't that Vita marketing was bad, either, it was bad because they had nothing good to market.  Sure the Vita had hits, but when there's no one wanting to play any of the games, there's no real success.  I mean, how many people are aware of games on the Vita like people are aware of games on the 3ds?  Pokemon, Mario, animal crossing, Layton, Fire emblem, Mario Kart, Ace attorney, Donkey Kong.  Those games are off the top of my head and most of them aren't games that first came out during current generation.  From the PSP, what games does one look forward to on the Vita?
