I'm likely the only one who will bring it up soooo, Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair.
If you find the video even mildly intriguing, the possibility of love is high. Skip ahead past the giant monster/mech fight if it drags. It's a small-ish part of the game anyways. A big part of the game is acquiring new weapons ( many weapons! ), and getting your armor levels up.
