PS4 YouTube app update 1.09 adds PSVR support

Watch videos in 360-degrees with the latest update for YouTube VR, rolling out on PSN right now.

A PlayStation 4 YouTube app adding PlayStation VR support is set to roll out shortly, allowing owners of Sony’s virtual reality headset to watch videos in 360-degrees.

PS4 YouTube app update 1.09 will be available on the PlayStation Network shortly, and some users are already reporting that they can access it. It appears that it’s being rolled out in phases, so it’s worth hovering over the PlayStation YouTube app icon on the home screen, tapping options and checking for updates.

On opening the YouTube app with your VR headset turned on, you’ll be prompted whether to use ‘Normal’ or ‘ PlayStation VR’ mode before being able to access a wealth of virtual reality clips. On YouTube VR there are some great videos, including roller coaster rides, short movies and horror shorts.

We’ll be testing them out over the holidays, and will provide a list of the best PlayStation VR experiences on YouTube VR shortly.
