The Last Guardian is a new IP and Final Fantasy is a third party series with several games on PS3. So no, I don't think it's comparable to the Zelda delays.

Apparently there were a lot of people excited to play The Last Guardian on PS3 then ultimately have to wait years until it was a PS4 exclusive. With Ico and SoTC, fans were eager to know more and get their hands on it just like BoTW. And although Zelda doesn't have new main series game on Wii U, it's not like Zelda fans were left off to dry. Hyrule Warriors and HD remakes/remastered of WW and TP were released. Then you got OoT and MM 3D, Triforce Heroes, and ALBW on 3DS. Some would complain they added too much from the series before releasing BoTW.

Not necessarily saying you're wrong but it's an interesting comparison in general. As I stated in the previous comment, I wonder about the reception about those games changing consoles after years of supposedly being planned for the last gen consoles.

There was a Zelda game on every Nintendo system for 30 years except the Virtual Boy and the Wii U (and no, a crap port of a Switch game with a very limited release does not count). And the Virtual Boy is a joke, while those who bought a Wii U did so because Nintendo said they would support it. Well, their support was barely better than the support the Virtual Boy got, and now they are giving the middle finger to Wii U owners by porting most of its games to Switch, making our purchase worthless, because for buying the Wii U instead of getting actual Wii U games we got unfinished beta versions of Switch games and a lot of sh*t games. So you cannot even compare this to the PS3 games that got moved to the PS4, not even to the Vita where only people who bought it at launch got screwed, and even then they got some third-party games to play.
