The key word you used "fragmented". From what we know Android surpassed them in 2014-2015.
And since then the Android market is still growing by leaps and bounds..(even with the Note fire Issue).
I think the apple market machine (which is just abount any jounalist using a mac) has gotten people to forget that the android revenue market could potentionally be 2 to 3 times larger then apple by now.
