The thing is, they arent doing something out of the box, they are doing something that exists in one form or another.
@Bolded/italic/underlined - if that is the reason why you buy different game systems, then you are doing it wrong. People buy different game systems to play different games - case in point first party games. No two systems/platforms are the same, options are great for the industry, but not for the reason you are arguing for. |
But that's another thing that bothers me, "it's not different, already exist!" well yeah, it's about the implementation. I can use the same excuse for a normal console, sony and xbox are not original cause well, it's a console! already exists! but I don't say that because that's just dumb,
blue ocean means a market that is not dominated by the "competition" and that's Nintendo's strategy. Since a lot of companies have been trying with the hybrid model, but none of them have great success or any success at all, that makes total sense for Nintendo because they are one of the biggest gaming companies and their handheld market is their best market. So why would they compete directly with the other two biggest console manufacturers doing the same thing if they can have a market for their own? Cause even if the Switch is not a "new" or "original" idea, it's different from the other two big players, and from a business point of view it makes sense because sony and ms are dominating the "normal" console market. Plus the fact that I can play a console quality game on a handheld, and then continue on the tv seamlessly, that's just too good and I don't know why gamers would complain about that, but that's just my personal opinion.
