I don't think they need to focus on any one platform in particular, but fair is fair, Nintendo should be included in getting Japanese SE titles unless there is absolutely, positively, no way at all that any of their games can run there. 

But "boo hoo, this will require some work" is not a valid excuse. 

If anything what I would suggest to Square-Enix is to reorganize and focus on PS4 and Switch for their Japanese titles and dump the XBox One or make that less of a priority. Switch is going to be the no.1 platform in Japan, it should have all the major SE titles. 

As for the franchise itself, I would suggest going back and using a cheaper graphics engine and a more FANTASY/MIDEVAL setting. Even if you're trying to appeal to a global audience, guess what, in the West we like Game of Thrones, not J-Pop boyband the game. Bring back the style of gaming to more like the SNES/PSOne era. 

In the last 20 years, Final Fantasy had one of the best graphics of the industry. That is  part of the franchise

 

It seems that the japanese Boy band worked in the global market. They shipped 5 millions day 1.
