I wouldn't get your hopes since an industry insider that said skylanders is now a dead franchise has teased that Activsion has no plans for Spyro.

 

Don't hold your breath about the demise of Skylanders meaning Spyro will automatically come back. All is not well at Activision.

Unfortunately I think Spyro is going down with the Skylanders ship, if in fact the series is cancelled. Spyro has been totally integrated into the Skylanders universe now and separating the two will take time.
