It's the first time ever that every single console will have 2 controllers. Given how important local multiplayer is to console gaming I think it's a pretty big deal. The barrier to entry for 4 player FIFA for example will be a lot cheaper. Consoles are supposed to be the arcades at home. After Asteroids and Pacman, local multiplayer is why arcade games were so popular. Other systems at the time could only manage take-turn multiplayer for the most part. A portable system with local multiplayer hasn't been seen before excluding multiple system setup. No system has had 2 player as standard. Except arcade machines. |
Dude just stop this. The switch doesn't have TWO vontrollers. It has two halves of ONE controller.
Lets get real here, each half of the switch has 1/2 shoulder buttons, a thumb stick and 4 buttons right? That's one half of a modern controller. it will allow multiplayer in some games but not all of them.
What happens when you want to play a game like street fighter or tekken? How will you do that with one half of a controller? use the thumb stick for command inputs?
What happens if there is an FPS with split screen support? How are you going to play that with half a controller?
