Maybe, maybe not.

All three of the major console manufacturers have been through this at least once. All three hath partaken of their own kool-aid. They thought they were on top for good--or, in Microsoft's case, believed they were trending upward to the point that the top was a foregone conclusion.

This is what happens when businesses take the market for granted. Most people are loyal to themselves first and foremost and will switch if it seems like they're going to get a better product or a better deal.

Especially in the gaming business, it should be obvious by now that you cannot predict a generation based on the previous generation. Everyone knows that now. It's quite possible that those in charge have learned their lesson.
