I'd say the Wii, Kinect, and Move made me look like more of a dumbass than a VR headset ever could. Once you get a chance to try the right game in VR, you'll change your tune.
Just don't assume you'll hate it. That's closed minded and Shigeru Miyamoto wouldn't approve.
