There is no meaningful distinction though. Whether or not you consider them a "generation" is irrelevant, they're still hardware launching within a year of Switch which are just as far ahead of it in power and PS4 and Xbone were over Wii U. Just as Wii launched alongside 360 and PS3, and Wii U launched alongside PS4/Xbone, Switch is launching alongside Pro and Scorpio. It doesn't matter that PS4 and Xbone are still supported; PS2 was still supported when Wii came out and PS3/360 were supported when Wii U came out. |
Of Course it is, Scorpio and Pro are parts of same platform like XB1 and PS4, they are not brand new generations platforms they will play exatly saem games, only difference is power. XB1/PS4 will still get full support until next gen despite stronger versions of hardware.
Offcourse that is matter, beacuse PS4/XB1 are still curent gen consoles same like Pro and they will get full suport at least until next gen arives. PS2 did had some 3rd party support later (same like PS3/Xbox360 now) but didn't had true new gen games (Batman, Mass Effect, BioShock, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout, Asasins Creed, Dark Souls...all Sony exlusives...), while XB1/PS4 will continue getting current gen games and exclusives at least until next gen arrives despite Pro and Scorpio.
