Well, some mods can remove things that do similar thing. Such as removing the 20 logo's when starting up a game, or removing some short video that plays during all reloads or something.
But yea I would agree. People love open world games. It gives a game more immersion. Seeing a black screen and waiting 30 seconds when you enter a new area disrupts that. If you have a good pc loading times are super quick and it makes it feel more smooth.
Heck, my pc isn't the greatest but it's still loads fast enough that I can never read the "tips" that loading screens show. On consoles, you can usually read the tips like 5 times during each loading.
