It has better have that functionality with those horrible speeds. It's 2016, Sony, fix the download speed already!
It seems that a stock PS4 uses a 5400 RPM HDD, which are pretty rare on PC. 7200 RPM is more common on PC, and it's faster. And in cases where a game doesn't install much data to the HDD anyway, there obviously won't be much benefit from the HDD. Not sure if there's a lot of such games though. For past generations, the loading time advantage has been much greater though, because console games either couldn't use a HDD or a lot of them simply didn't even though they could. |
well the the use of HDD on consoles is slightly diffrent from PC and the result is very effective and significant, especially games that use disc. Most of the games on consoles streamed half from the disc to HDD and to the CPU, unlike PC that need to be instaled. That's why it doesnt need to have a high speed HDD. They also use a diffrent kind of compresion tech. The reason ofcourse to cut the price as cheap as posible and also the durability. The same thing also use in most of laptop 2.5 sata HDD
