This is pretty simple. When you go live in a new country, you adapt to the customs of the country. It's not the locals that have to adapt to you. This is super important in order to not spark problems.

You can't be in your face like that when a country is taking you in. You have to respect and adapt to the local customs. It's ok to have your own naturally, but you can't be all in-your-face about it. Especially when it can offend sensibilities.
