It's a little eerie how much this is kinda panning out how I thought it might.

Even right down to a dock with a fan inside of it.

I'm feeling better about the system now. 1080p for graphics along this line at home:

Is ... ok? I mean it's nothing to throw a party over but it's ... ok. If that can run at 1080p, that's not as bad as I thought it might be.

I think for PS4/XB1 ports the optimal set up would be 540p in portable mode and 720p in home mode (full clock). Also lol at Nintendo blacklisting LPVG ... but thanks for taking one for the team Kate.

I mean, the Mario game there is quite nice.  Pretty excellent lighting system.  Hard to judge much else due to perspective and such.  But it is a Mario game, it will definitely run at 60fps.  So a platformer of that visual fidelity  (baring in mind this is a pretty early version) running at that resolution and framerate would be pretty sweet.

I think that handheld mode will benefit immensely from the growing popularity of implementing variable resolution in games so it can look as good as possible at any given moment.  And yeah, you could go as low as 540p and still have a good enough image if the screen quality is up to snuff.  I mean the 3DS has a pathetically low res screen and it still has some great aesthetics on display.
