Russia is not stupid nor does it live in some fairy tales.  A War between the other two is really not good for them, economically and by the fact US would smash China and rearm ten time over due to the war.  Russia does not want to move in to Eastern Europe neither does it actually have the capability.  War would not weaken the US, its military industry would go into overdrive same way it did in ww2.  Plus other industry's by sheer nessecity.  

No, lol, I don't play any military video games, don't have any interest in that. I do enjoy studying history, World War II and the Cold War in particular though. 

A war between China/US if sufficently devastating enough would leave Russia and Germany as the defacto remaining super powers, and if you're Russia, you probably like those odds. Putin was raised and trained by the KGB, don't assume America has a monopoly on nostalgic longing for the past. Putin would go down as the greatest leader in Russian history if he was able to restore Russia as the defacto global superpower. 

Mind you, I don't think even Trump is dumb enough to let things ever get that far, and even if he did, he'd like face impeachment and/or a coup from within his own government. 

You dont give of any impression.  Take away US and China and there are no superpowers, there would be regional powers nothing more.  

Putin can nostlgia all he wants, they lack any industry of an actual economy beyond gas and oil to ever be a superpower.  If not for their nukes they would be near irrelevent.  Germany becoming a superpower is to joke if i ever heard one, ther population is severly lacking the mentality to militarize (nazi guilt) their army currently is a joke and military service/jobs are looked down on.  And I truely really really dont see any neighbouring nations giving the Germans a chance in hell to become a military power given their history.  I can tell you now the French and Pols would quickly ally and wage war if Germany was on that path agian, lessons learned.
