As for rather it is wise to anger them, I don't think it matters all that much. It's not like they're going to go to war over this, and even if they did, Trump and Putin seem to have a better relationship than Jinping and Putin have, and it would be unwise for China to get into a fight with 2 other superpowers at once. 

Putin doesn't really give two shits about Trump, he is manipulating him to his own ends. He's smart. 

Russia would love a war between China/US ... if such a war was devastating enough who would be left as the world's super power? Take a wild guess. 

Re-establishing the global dominance of Russia with a weakened/potentially crippled America, a devastated China, and an impotent Germany ... it would be the greatest triumph imaginable for the Soviet block, the ultimate revenge for the fall of the USSR which Putin has said is the greatest tragedy in modern history. 

This sounds like the plot for a very good sequel to a movie
