https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/software/3ds.html I actually tried googling whether Sony owns the IP of Until Dawn, but I could find nothing concrete, just that they published it. But it doesn't really matter. All companies make new IPs, big or small. Nintendo had Boxboy, Pushmo, Codename Steam, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Splatoon. Splatoon sold 4.57 million units as of today and is bigger than all the new IPs Sony created this generation. And that on a console with such a lower userbase. They also made games based around new ideas but with existing characters (Super Mario Maker and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker). |
Lol you're just so ridiculous. You're still only talking about 3DS while 99% of Sony's threads are about their home consoles. So why. Why do you always insist on bringing up handhelds? Is that the only way you can try to prove your point? By talking about another topic?
You keep talking about how much Nintendo exclusives sell. The only reason they sell is much is because they don't have 3rd party support. The more games those platforms have, the less there exclusives will sell. People do not have infinite money, they buy only a certain number of games and if those games are all exclusives, well of course it's going to sell well. That's exactly why launch titles will sell more than if they were released a year after the launch of a console, there are fewer games to buy. That's exactly why Knack sold so much, it would not have sold as much if it were released a year after its release or whatever.
Yes Nintendo makes new IPs, but they make the least out of the big 3. Even Microsoft has more IPs than Nintendo and they've been in the business for fewer time. And of those new IPs, they're based on games that already exist.
