VGC says different but if you can give me a more credible source, consider me corrected.

Pokemon is as much a Nintendo game as Until dawn, bloodborne, death stranding, etc. are Sony games.

I actually tried googling whether Sony owns the IP of Until Dawn, but I could find nothing concrete, just that they published it.

But it doesn't really matter. All companies make new IPs, big or small. Nintendo had Boxboy, Pushmo, Codename Steam, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Splatoon. Splatoon sold 4.57 million units as of September 2016 and is bigger than all the new IPs Sony created this generation. And that on a console with such a low userbase. They also made games based around new ideas but with existing characters (Super Mario Maker and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker). Tomodachi Life was a new IP for the West (it had a Japanese exclusive predecessor on the DS).
