Yeah, I agree. While it looks like Xbox and Nintendo might be on the right track now, I think it's hard to deny that Sony started off this gen the right way.
Everyone has a different idea about what qualities a home console should encompass but, in my opinion, it should mainly be a box that plays a lot of games. I want a console that exists as a platform for developers, not something they have to conform to. The games themselves are the stars of the show.
As a first party, what I like about Sony is that they make games that I don't like. Now, I know that sounds odd, but my point is that they make all kinds of games. Because of that, they'll make some games I like and some games I don't like. I never know what the future holds and I find that to be awesome. It creates a user base filled with all kinds of tastes and desires. That, to me, is the best kind of platform.
