We already are seeing a lot more digital sales on consoles too for older games. As digital takes more of a share those type of sales will only increase, similiar to Steam where the digital sales are far better than any of the physical media sales in store.

Steam is not Nintendo. And saying "will" is just your wish, or your personal outlook. It's a guess and besides, we're not talking about speculation. We're talking about reality. Physical discs depreciate. Stores rebate heavily. 

Xenoblade Chronicles X was $17.89 in my local Target a few months back. Today on E Shop? It's $59.99. Infinite Warefare is $39.99 on Amazon. Today on PSN? $59.99
