Wait so Nintendo didn't create pokemon? tell me more!!

Pokemon was created by a lonely man that loved collecting bugs at his youth and had a game magazine called Gamefreak, later to become a videogame development studio.

Story is that he (Satoshi, the guy talked above) saw the gameboy cable link capabilities of exchanging data, and had the perfect idea to finally make a game about his young days hobby of collecting and exchanging creatures, so he went for Nintendo with his idea, and we all know how well it went.
GameFreak and also The Pokemon Company still hold rights over the brand.

GameFreak is not a first part studio, as they already developed games for the Mega Drive back in the day, and more recently a PC game, but Nintendo also owns a share of Pokemon rights. Nintendo didn't create Pokemon, but they took part on shaping it.

Still looking for what does Pokemon have to do with GT (besides the very outside idea that PD and GF aren't studios inside the mother company, but still differ as fully and partially owned)
