It'd still being the price up, and compatibility with the standard X1 would need to be handle carefully, but i feel like that's be more likely than a Zen. 

Didn't they say that Zen would be better performing and cheaper than intel? Even baseline Zen would be better than Jaguar.

The Scorpio's CPU has been confirmed at having 8 cores, and the rumoured price for the lower-end 8 core Zen is $350. The Zen does currently appear to offer amazing value, but it'd still be an expensive decision for MS. Doubly so since the Scorpio has to linearly scale back to the standard X1, which limits what that extra CPU power could be used for (outside of frame-rate jumps).

It's not impossible, but it'd take some serious balls If they are using a Zen, i'd expect it to be a custom low-spec version.
