The recount won't change anything as those states will still end up as Trump states. But there is nothing wrong with having a second look at close results, so doing the recount is fine, hoping that it will change the results is rather wishful.
What should happen is what has always happened, the candidate with the most ECVs on election night will be the next president.
What should happen in future elections is a question a lot of people will discuss, but nothing will change, because Republcians are never on the losing side of a NPV/ECV mis-match.
