So I am currently at chapter 2. I did a few side missions as well but I still have a long way to go.

But so far, what I think is that this style of FFXV certainly has its charm. It just feels very relaxing to play this game and I won't dock any marks for trying something new.

But what I do feel though is that the execution wasn't really as good as I expected it would be. I yarred Kingsglave since a review said you really should watch it to understand the story and boy was he right. If I didn't watch it, I would not had much of an idea as to what is going on so far. Imo, they should have included the movie in the game in the form of cutscenes. Cause imo, that would have made the game much better cause it would have given it a much clearer picture. But again, only in chapter 2.

The next complaint I have is that so far, the world doesn't feel very lively. Look at XCX, GTA V and other open world games, they are much more filled with people or creatures than this game is so far.

And the car, oh boy the car. It is just as I feared, you can't do shit with it. The manual mode is so restrictive that you may as well just play it in automatic mode.

But on the bright side, I love the combat, the characters are pretty great, the graphics is nice, the music is great, the cutscenes are obviously excellent and etc.

So for me, is it a step in the right direction? Hard to tell. It may have been if the execution was better so if they try again next round with much better execution, then maybe. Or they can go back to their roots as a lot of FF fans have been asking but that doesn't seem like the end goal.

Than again, I am only in chapter 2 so some of the opinion that I have might change after I finished the game.
