In my opinion FF 13 wasn't that bad, but I still don't know wtf was the story about and I could not understand the conflict between two fractions. It didn't even bother me, that game was so linear.
As I did not finish FF XV yet I can't tell whether or not it's plot is step in good direction, but as for now the best story telling is Witcher 3.
