Final Fantasy XV - A ten year long journey

Today, Final Fantasy XV released. A game that was first revealed in May 2006, when Square Enix showed it under the name Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Between then and now, the week of the game’s launch, the world has changed in some pretty dramatic ways. To really hammer in just how long we’ve waited for the 15th Final Fantasy and how much can happen in 10 years, follow along for some of the highlights of the past decade.

- TV shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men have aired their entire runs
- Streaming TV, movies and music has become the norm
- Platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video have all launched since the game’s reveal
- US citizens have voted in three separate presidential elections
- Barack Obama has completed his entire presidency
- The financial crisis has hit the World
- Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia have been separated to form three distinct countries
- South Sudan has been separated from Sudan to form two distinct countries
