From what I've played your base stays there forever. I've even traveled to other Systems and when I returned to the location of my base it was there just like I left it.

Nice, I guess it has a marker so you can find the location on the planet again. Does it have a marker too in the galaxy screen, or is it up to you to retrace your steps.
