. When Mello kidnapped Takada, it forced them to kill Takada to cover any evidence. The only problem is that Mikami didn't know that Light could kill Takada, so Mikami went to where the real Death Note was to kill Takada for him.
Since Mikami went to where the real Death Note was, SPK found it and realized he was using a fake one the whole time. They then replaced his real Death Note with a fake one. So Mikami really had 2 fake Death Notes.
If Mikami had not went to kill Takada, he would still have the real Death Note and he would have killed Near and everybody else. It was Mikami's own devotion to Light that got them both caught. This is why Light yells at him. If he had done nothing they would have won. They were also forced to do all this because Mello sacrificed himself into getting Takada caught.
That's the best I can explain it.
