Bit late. I would go back for a VR update, yet building a base seems kinda pointless. Why would you want to stay on any one planet?
Imo they should concentrate on building your ship. Add modules to it for more cargo space, drones to mine for you, extend the jump range, navigation modules, advanced scanning modules.
