Why updated ports make sense for Nintendo fans

I wouldnt say the 3DS is doing bad. It seems to do well over 100K every week.

I would say its doing ok even mediocre. And what would the sales be like next year? You think it will be able to maintain till a Winter 2017 launch for Switch? I seriously doubt it.
