I didn't get one until 2008. I remember it like it was yesterday!
I was working for the Sheriff's department and MGS4 was coming out that night. Walmart had a deal where they gave out a $100 gift card for anybody who bought a Blu-ray player--which included the PS3!
Right before i left to get the console, my job called asking me to come in because some crazy guy ran from a traffic stop and he was in the woods somewhere. I said "Fuck that! I'm getting a PS3!". Ignored my duties and went to Walmart. At midnight, I was second in line!!
I waited and looked on in horror as they brought out one PS3. ONE. And the clerk said that was it. I literally felt like crying. I could feel the tears building up. This is going to be embarrassing. Then, another clerk came out with a couple more MGS4 bundles. I got mine! I came home with the console, a hundred dollar gift card, and a feeling of satisfaction. Fired up the console, waited for the update, and fell asleep. Didn't matter. I had it!
My 80gb BC PS3 served me well until the day Metal Gear Rising released. It died installing that game to the hard drive. Its first and last game was Metal Gear. Almost poetic. I still have it boxed up in the closet. Thanks for the memories!
