"And why are you bringing up Skyrim, GTA5 and Fallout 4? They are not of the same genre as FFXV."

Ah, there's the old PS4 spirit! You see, if this was FFXIII, Tales of Berseria or heck, P5, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but unless the aesthetic of the main cast scares people out (and if so, the gaming fandom has collapsed in a most spectacular way), FFXV has more in common with Fallout 4 than it does with past FF titles. It's an action RPG, with an open world, very Western themes, a photorealistic ambiance and character design and non linear storyline. I might as well be describing the next Elder Scrolls game.

I will spell it out for you...

By anything except main cast design and the dev team behind, FINAL FANTASY XV IS NOT A JRPG!

Or it is one, but it has as much in common with JRPGs as it does with WRPGs... Labels aside of course.

Sorry about the late response, but here it is.

But you do know that FFXV gets more linear in the 2nd half as noted by Square Enix. Also, you need to do more than just asserting that FFXV has more in common with Fallout 4 than with past FF titles because the Proof by Assertion fallacy can be easily broken down. You merely listed a bunch of vague points without further elaborating on them, similar to how you claim that your prediction is based on data of other games, but not bother to show the actual data. Perhaps you should spend less time making baffling statements like your "PS4 spirit" moniker and form more sound points. It would also behoove you to directly address some of my other points, as well.

One fundamental problem to your argument is its implication of the notion that because one game shares certain qualities with another, it therefore shares most or all qualities. I'm not saying you were arguing that, but it definitely gave off that angle. Saying that FFXV and Fallout 4 are both action RPGs is not a solid argument because "action" is a vague term. Games can be actiony in different ways. FFXV has a more Kingdom Hearts-esque gameplay (& KH is also a JRPG) whereas Fallout 4 adopts a lot of FPS aspects. Same thing applies to "open-world" and Western themes. Again, that's vague and you never elaborated on these things.

Photorealistic ambiance and character design is where you really fell off the rails. There is definitely some photorealistic aspects to FFXV, but it also retains the Japanese aesthetic that you see in past FF games, anime, and manga. The hair and faces are a clear sign of this. The main cast gives off that J-pop boy band vibe, something that western RPGs do not offer. Non-linear storyline, I already went over that.

Overall, FFXV is a JRPG not because of the nationality of the developers, but it still utlizes aspects that JRPGs tend to use (e.g. character design, J-pop boy band tone, some linearity, etc.). And if you don't believe me, then well.... Conan O'Brien and Elijah Wood just made a recent video on FFXV. Based on their reception, FFXV is likely not a game that will appeal to the average western gamer.
