I still have a launch model ps3 which was used a lot over the past 10 years, it's completely perfect to this day.

Which model did you get? there is a lot of variations of the original phat PS3, can the front panel open up on the left side? does it have the card reader I mean, if so is it PS2 compatible? Just in case you didn't know every model of PS3 is PS1 compatible and also changing the HDD is absolutely simple, it's just a laptop drive in the side of the console, takes a matter of minutes to do if you are PC savvy.

No idea what type of ps3 it is. I just know it's fat as hell.

Unfortunately it's a bit glossy and scratched up, but thankfully nothing too big to damage it. Besides that it worked perfectly fine. Tested WWE on it and ran without too much noise for 40 minutes.
