Enjoy paying 45% more for those. And China also holds a huge amount of US debt, if they called that in, the US would be in massive trouble. So it seems like Trump while being a puppet to Russia is trading that in for worse relations with China ... which is far worse overall. China is not only far bigger economically, they are bigger militarily too. Hope Trump is not this stupid, we could be looking at a massive global recession. |
As for the "called that debt in", that would be suicide for both sides.
Otherwise, manufacturing is already shifting to markets like India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and so forth. It would hurt a lot of people (China is easily as dependent on the US purchasing their goods as the US is dependent on their manufacturing), but it wouldn't be a catastrophe. This is mostly just posturing as China feels Trump out.
As for the military, lawl. The USA still blows the Chinese military out of the water (and could do so quite literally).
