Trump basically said that he won't support NATO anymore and that other countries have to learn how to defend themselves without the US. We have nuclear missiles too and won't be invaded by any other country, so don't worry about us. Just for information: a lot of France presidency candidates (on the likely winning side) are saying and said for a while now that we should get a lot closer to Russia. And Trump's election just gave a lot more weight to these arguments. You have the right to think that Europe loves the US and that we will do anything for your crazy president. We won't and a lot of us would be happy to see Trump failing. A lot of countries didn't follow you in Irak, you didn't follow us in Libya, we weren't able to agree on an intervention in Syria. And you want everyone to agree on a war to China? Once again, good luck with that ^^. By the way, the sanctions against Russia were about Ukraine, a EU/Russia argument (EU wanted an economic agreement with Ukraine, Russia didn't want it basically). The US were the ones following the EU in this case, not the other way around. |
You think Putin will care if those EU impose sanctions? Some of those EU countries don't have a lot of money. United States right now controls the economy. They can turn a nation of riches to a third world country in a heart beat. America didn't like Russia expanding into Ukraine as well. Not just EU countries. So the sanctions was something they could agree on. Trump doesn't want to leave or hate NATO. He believe we are being treated unfairly by NATO because they aren't paying for our protection or doing their part. United States will never leave NATO because we gain too much from just like the rest of the countries in NATO gain a lot from United States. Protection, stronger economy, ect.
