A literal war with China would destroy a good chunk of the planet. "NATO" is a joke. It would be US vs. China, which sure the US would probably "win", but they'd also likely get hit by several nukes. So would Japan and quite possibly Europe too. Also any type of "ground war" with China would be a disaster. US was having headaches with freaking Iraq and run down Afghanistan. 

Ground war? No such thing when two super powers go at it. We will literally crush China in minutes if we wanted too.
