"Those who opted to purchase from the Windows Store found a pretty big surprise. They can only play with other people who bought the game from the Windows Store, and for those unaware, not many people really buy games off of the Windows Store."

Wow that is a beating.

"Activision split the player base significantly by separating Windows and Steam players".

Did Activision make that decision? That absolutely seems like a Microsoft decision. Why would Activision shoot themselves in the foot like that?

We support cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Windows Central when it asked them about the recent Call of Duty problems. The statement implies Activision made the call to keep PC players who bought the game from different storefronts separate. Which, if true, is ridiculous.

Would be weird, just today renegade is announced as a cross play title and I think Ark will join soon so it would be weird why Microsoft would not allow it.
