Not only is emulation of old games not really all that common (and certainly no threat to the sales of big new games), but also there`s often literally no way the developers could make any money from them anyway so what does it really matter? If people wanted to play those games without emulation they could buy a second hand console and copy of the game, but whether they do that or emulate it illegaly the money that the developer receives from it is still going to be $0. That`s also why the comparison with movies just doesn`t work. If I want to watch an old movie such as Jurassic Park or Die Hard then it`s possible to buy a DVD/Blu-Ray of it or usually watch it on a site like Netflix too, they can and do still generate revenue for the studios. |
