If you ask me, theres no difference. Just some people started to pick up offense over the fanboy term and it spread. Quite honestly, i wouldn't be surprised for "fan" to end up the same way. One day we won't be able to say someone is a fan of something because its offensive.
I think its silly. But alas, i must abide by the forum rules, wether silly or not.
Also, a fanboy and a hater are definitly not the same thing. A fanboy as people like to use, is someone who doesn't see reason whilst defending their own point of view over a certain product or company. A fan... can be the same thing.
A hater is a purposely spiteful person. It's not nearly the same.
