The downclock and shutting down of half the GPU is only for PS4 games that don't get the PS4Pro patch to be sure there isn't any gamebreaking bug. So for any game that have a patch it will have improved version.

The upscalling (maybe not checkerboard) will be done even without the patch, the improved fps I haven't see any info on it happening without patch, but if sony locks the CPU then it won't happen.

But to people thinking no bugs should happen from having higher speed CPU on the same architeture that isn't true. Some bugs may appear only if by faster processing speed.

I know it's only for PS4 games on Pro without patches which is the majority of the PS4 games and that is what we were discussing here.

But I wonder how MS manages to do that and Sony doesn't. I have yet to hear of any game having bugs on the S due to the slightly higher clock and faster esram.

No problem, but maybe others don't know this info.

But can you confirm the CPU? The GPU I heard they saying that they would disable half the cores (haven't heard of them downclocking the half that was kept). And perhaps they will hold for future updates.
