I don't care about power but as in any craft, you have to be aware of the advancements being made in your field. Nintendo says they don't care about being powerful but there was a time where it was the most powerful 16 bit device and 64 bit gaming device.
Still, with every Nintendo console I don't ever feel like "this game could look better" when I play a Nintendo game because the style is solid. So to reiterate, I could care less about the power of a console or how many polygons and texture resolutions/etc. it can push. I just want games that know what the want to be/do for the industry.
