Why "casual" gamers are good for the industry plus issues with fanboys

I know someone who was a hardcore gamer and owned just about every console from the atari 2600 to the xbox, and now they play very few games and don't even own a current gen system.  I also used to be a hardcore gamer and now i don't feel i am one anymore, so what you said is wrong.
