Depends if the CPU is underclocked when playing unpatched games... if it isn't then games that suffered from frame drops on the OG PS4 should run better on the Pro even without a patch.

Yes on patches to improve visual quality (better textures, lighting, etc). 

When it comes to mantaining a smooth framerate I would be shocked if the pro had any sort of dips. The reason fps drops for the most part is when either the cpu or gpu are rendering more than they can chew. If the game targets 60 fps and drops to 30/20 because the apu can't render all the frames, double the apu performance and these frame drops shouldn't happen anymore. Even the Xbox 1 S had marginal fps gains over the vanilla system with a nearly identical apu

That's great news really. Every minor gain is important imo. If for example, the Pro can get EDF 4.1 to a consistant 60fps instead of having the dips it has, I would love that. :)
