Don't games need patches for any improvements to occur? I'm still not clear on this.

Depends if the CPU is underclocked when playing unpatched games... if it isn't then games that suffered from frame drops on the OG PS4 should run better on the Pro even without a patch.

But yeah we don't know the details.
